Classification of a large quantity of mixed laboratory chemicals, which had been stored for some considerable time, in a chemical storage facility owned by the client.

The chemicals were to be placed into their appropriate risk grouping based on their hazard property and then labelled, packaged and then transported to a suitable disposal site.

Make a photographic record of the site and the chemicals

Collate a list of the chemicals and place them in groups in accordance with their hazard risk properties

Label and package the chemicals in line with legislative requirements

Transport the waste under a waste consignment note for disposal

Partial surrender and variation to PPC Permit

Client: Network Rail

Dates: June 2010 - August 2010

Due to a landslip on the coastal side of the main east coast rail line at Lamberton near Berwick Upon Tweed Network Rail required to carry out emergency remediation works in an area of land which was the subject of a PPC Permit. The site was a working landfill site and recycling centre owned and operated by John Fairbairn. SC Waste Management Limited were engaged to provide waste management consulting services in regard to the submission of a partial permit surrender and variation to allow the site to be used by Network Rail for their remediation works.

SC Waste Management provided:

  1. Assessment of the area of the site to be surrendered to prove no tipping had taken place historically on that part of the site.
  2. Submission of a partial PPC Permit surrender application to SEPA.
  3. Submission of a Permit variation to SEPA.
  4. Liason with both SEPA and Local Authority Planning Department in the above regard.

Development of an Environmental Management System

Client: Nicolson Plant Ltd.

Dates: 2004

Development of an environmental management system in order that the company could apply for tenders issued by its major customer BP.

Auditing of the company in order to assess their current level of performance and to establish a benchmark position for them to develop from.

The company were thereafter responsible for the implementation of the system and its management.
